Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed the break! Now is the time to get back to work. There are several important items I want to share with you.

1. The grading period will end on Jan. 13th which means we have less than 2 weeks left. Students should be finsihing AR books and meeting their individual goals. Please encourage your child to READ! Also, please make sure they pay attention to the required reading level and comprehension levels. These factor in to the final Accelerated Reader grade.
2. We will begin our research paper and power point on a famous African American in conjunction with Black History Month in February. I will send home a list of importanat dates and requirements for the student. Please keep the copy at home as I will give an additional one for your child to keep. He/she will need a package of note cards and if possible a jump drive to bring from home to school as he/she works on the paper. If you do not have a computer at home, your child may use the computers at school.

It's hard to believe that we have only 1 more semester-there is so much to accomplish before high school! We will be working very hard while also enjoying all the excitement of being 8th graders at CLS. May God richly bless you and yours in the coming year!
