4th Grade ::

Dear Parents and Grandparents,
We are off to a great start to the school and enjoying your children very much! Thanks for sharing them with us!
The purple folder will be sent home every Tuesday. Inside you will find your child's work for the week and important notes as well as our weekly newsletter. Please go over the papers together and return response forms Wednesday morning. Also, please sign the sheet in the front of the folder.
This year with Memory, we will be learning longer passages of Scripture. We will spend time each day working on these. This week we are working on Psalm 23. Our bulletin board "It's a Brand-New Flock" shows Jesus as our Good Shepherd, and we are His Sheep. Psalm 23 speaks of Jesus being our Shepherd. Verses 1 and 2 will be said to me on Friday.
Tuesday and Thursdays are our gym days. If your child does not have a pair of tennis shoes to be left at school, please see that they do soon. We will be working up to running a mile this year, so if your child has asthma or any other condition that would keep them from being able to do this, please let me know.
We are using the English Standard Version (ESV) of the Bible this year in 4th grade. This goes along with the new Religion series that we are using. It is very important that your child has this version of the Bible. If they still have their old NIV version, it can be turned into the office for $5 towards the purchase of the new version. Please do this as soon as possible. We use our Bibles nearly every single day. Accelerated Reader is a separate grade on the report card this year, and we will have weekly goals to meet to stay on track. This week for Fun Friday we need 11% of our goal with 85% accuracy. For recess and sports eligibility we need 8%.
Reading and Spelling tests will be Friday. Please review the reading story and go over the quiz questions to prepare. Spelling words should be practiced every night.
Be sure to mark your calendars for Sunday, September 26. This is our Christian Education service, and attendance is required. The children will be reciting Bible passages and singing several songs.
Have a blessed week,
Mrs. Bremer and Mrs. Von Behren
