Luther's Evening Prayer
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.

Dear Parents,
Just a reminder about AR…As stated earlier this year, in order for a child to go on the AR field trip at the end of the year, he/she must meet goals (point goals & min. percent correct) for 3-out-of-4 grading periods. Many have already been notified if they have made the trip as of third quarter, and there are some that will still make the trip at the end of the fourth quarter. Please continue to read and discuss the AR books with your child.
Congratulations to Quincy, Geno, Jalen, and Keseanna as they have mastered all of their multiplication facts! Our first group of “M&M” Multipliers were presented with a special treat and certificate. Keep practicing at home to achieve that status!
Friday we will attend the Good Friday service at noon. Please feel free to join us for this service. School will be dismissed at 1:15.
Have a blessed Easter celebration with your family! School resumes on Monday, April 20th.
Reading: Ramona Quimby, Age 8

Dear Parents,
Please remember that the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) are being given this week. It is very important for children to get plenty of sleep each night and eat a good breakfast each morning. It is also very imperative that children arrive at 8:00 each morning so we may start our testing as soon as morning procedures have been completed.
Due to our ITBS testing this week, I moved memory work until Friday and there will not be a spelling test this week.
This week we begin a new novel, Ramona Quimby, Age 8. Please see the reading assignments for the week. All of the reading will be completed in class, however, review of these chapters should take place at home. There will be a packet to go along with the book, a computer assignment, and the final test over the book (AR test). It should be an enjoyable unit for the next 2 weeks.
Please find the note about the costumes for the musical in today’s papers.
Reading: Ramona Quimby, Age 8 Ch 1-5 tentatively
Multiplication/Division this week: x8 Review of other facts
Memory work (due Friday): The Apostle’s Creed (All)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the
dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our musical is this Sunday at both services, and the children are doing a great job. Please review their speaking parts with them at home this week. The children should come in their costumes to church on Sunday. They should be here by 7:30 to warm up.
We practice this Wednesday at the usual time and will finish shortly after 4:30p.m. We also practice this Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. These practices are very important, and every singer needs to be here.
After the musical Sunday, Youth Choir will be over for the year. There is a scheduling conflict for some of the singers on the April date we were scheduled to sing, so we are cancelling that. We will schedule a picnic on a Wednesday at a later date when the weather is a bit warmer.
Thanks for sharing your talented singers with us!

In a few weeks we will begin the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. We will spend time completing practice tests, so they will have a better understanding of the testing procedure. You will notice that last week’s reading test had a different format. The children filled in a “bubble sheet”, similar to that of the ITBS, as a practice. We will continue with this practice for the next few weeks.
This year's school musical, “Dragon Quest”, will be held April 30th at 6:30 p.m. We have begun working on our songs and it should be an exciting evening. If there is some reason that your child will not be here, please let me know soon.

Dear Parents,
We have reached the final week of school before Christmas break, and everyone is anxiously awaiting this wonderful season of our Savior’s birth. I would like to extend my Christmas blessings to everyone and wish you a wonderful time with your family.
A few reminders for this week:

2. We will have various Christmas activities on Friday. If you would like to bring in snacks for that day, please let me know by tomorrow. Snacks should be in individual baggies so they can be easily transported home (no cupcakes please).
Congratulations to our Bible Bee contestants: Maya, Jalen, Geno, Kacie!
There will be a Social Studies quiz on Thursday over Ch. 3. A study guide was sent home last Friday.
During the Christmas break, I would like to emphasize the importance of continued reading and review of math facts. Children should be ready for AR tests when they return.

Our computer keyboarding work is going wonderfully! Your child can practice these skills at home at www.typing-lessons.org/ . We are also practicing math drills weekly on the computer.
Math notes: We are continuing to learn new concepts, as well as review old ones. It is important that you go over side B with your child each night. Those students who receive extra help at home have a greater understanding of the concepts, and therefore perform much better during the test each week. Your continued support is invaluable!
Last week a health educator from the Peoria Co. Health Dept. visited our classroom with a program on good hygiene. Please ask your child what they learned from the presentation.
